Celebration Time!

Today is a very special day for me. Today is celebrating three years of healing for me. It's been three years since God stepped in and healed me of over forty years of depression, intimidation, and mental and emotional abuse.

I talk about it a lot, but when God does a miracle in your life, you don't forget it and you want to share it with everyone you come in contact with. Why do I continue talking about it? Because by talking about it, someone who has never heard my testimony may be encouraged. Someone out there who is suffering depression may find healing. Someone who is suffering abuse may find encouragement and help. Someone out there who is at the end of their rope might find grace. That's why I do it...and because God commissioned me to.*

Not only that, but because of my healing it's my hope and ultimately my assignment to bring my story to others to encourage them; to help them find healing and purpose through forgiveness, grace, and hope. It's the theme of my website; to help people find where they fit in. When they find healing, they will find their purpose. When they find healing and purpose, they will begin to forgive. They find forgiveness through grace. When they find grace, they will ultimately find hope. They all go together in a beautiful package. The package is Jesus.

Granted, I knew Jesus long before my healing. But I was so broken that I couldn't follow Him the way I watched others do. I think it's that way for a lot of people. The world has crept in and misguided many people into thinking that their circumstances are "just the way life is," that this is their lot in life, it's hereditary, runs in the family, or because they've brought it on themselves. How untrue this is! Because Jesus didn't die so we could live in bondage! He died so we could have an abundant life...right here...right now (John 10:10)! Sure, we'll have abundance beyond our wildest dreams when we get to Heaven. But we can also have a full and wonderful life here on earth, as well.

Listen lovelies, God wants you healed, too. You have a purpose. You have talent. You are a beautiful masterpiece and you have been chosen by the Most High God to be something wonderful! I never believed that myself until I was healed. That's when everything began falling into place. My life changed forever.

This is why I'm so excited about today. I've been walking healed for three years today. No, it hasn't been all hunky dory every day. But the "bad" days pale in comparison to all the good days. God never said we wouldn't have it easy. No, quite the opposite is true (John 15:18-19, 1 John 3:13). When I do come under attack though, I don't have a setback into the black abyss like I used to. I immediately take it to God and He helps me through it. I learn a lot not only about my situation, but about myself in the process. I'm a work in progress. I'm not perfect. My life isn't perfect. I'm just healed and I'm doing the best I can to walk my walk, trusting the Lord every step of the way.

I'm not where I want to be, but thank God that I'm not where I used to be! And that's cause for celebration!
*My story is now available in my new book, Walking Healed. I'm not advertising what I've done, but what God has done. Read my full story and learn how to walk healed. Available in eBook and paperback.

Let Go of the Rope

God is so utterly amazing!
I know that you know this. But I wanted to reiterate the fact that He is…so utterly amazing! My reason for the exuberance today is just that after coming out of a particularly ridiculous spiritual battle, I discover subtle, little messages from God tucked away in various places. He’s cool like that, God. He reminds me of who I am, who He is, where I came from, and where I’m going. And even cooler still is that He reminds me that He’s been with me the whole time.

Let Go Of The Rope!
Are you in a place today where you feel beat down? Do you feel unwanted, unloved, depressed, intimidated, or maybe even at the end of your rope? I’m not here to tell you to tie a knot in the end and hang on. Nope. I won’t do that. Instead, I want to tell you to LET GO! Just let go. Because chances are you’re within a couple feet of the ground.

But the rope can’t save you. Jesus can. And He wants to. Jesus is standing below that rope you’re hanging onto for dear life. All you have to do is let go. Let go of the depression. Let go of the intimidation. Let go of past hurts. Let go of the anger, the frustration, the diagnosis, the disappointment, the fear. Let go of it all and let Jesus catch you. He won’t miss. He won’t drop you. And He definitely won’t let you go.

Put Your Foot Down!
Look, the enemy (that’s Satan) wants you to believe that there’s no hope for you. He wants you to believe that there’s no healing for you. He would just rather you believe that nothing and no one cares and that you might as well just give up. But he is a bold faced liar and he has absolutely no power to overtake you. You might think all that junk in your life is about to overtake you, but it isn’t. Because if you’ll just put your foot down, you’ll find you’re on a Solid Rock, Jesus.

I lived in misery for over forty years when I could have just reached out, let go of my rope, put my foot down, and I would have discovered that Jesus was standing inches away with His arms outstretched, waiting to catch me. But I was too afraid. I was convinced that I was hopeless, a lost cause. So I lived it. I lived it to the point that I became nearly nonfunctional mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. Yet there was a tiny, tiny little light in the distance I could barely see, and a muffled voice that I thought might be calling out to me. Then one night, in a desperate grasp for hope and healing I reached out. And instead of me grabbing onto something, Someone grabbed onto me. And I was healed.

You Are Not A Lost Cause
You are not a lost cause, dear lovelies. You are not beyond hope. Hope is waiting for you. Healing is waiting for you. Stand back up! You are closer than you think to the life you were meant to live. Jesus is waiting to give you back your life and He wants to make it so full of abundance that you won’t know what to do with it all. Oh precious one, there is so much more to your life than you even dreamed.

You Are Extraordinary!
There’s a desire deep within you that God wants to bring forth and grow. It’s not a stupid idea. It’s not out of your reach. That dream, that desire, is your purpose. Hand it over to God and let Him give you back more than you thought was even possible. It might seem scary. It might seem out of the ordinary. We aren’t dealing with an ordinary God! We are dealing with an out-of-the-box God. A God Who wants to take our ordinary and make it extraordinary! You have big dreams, but God has an even bigger dream for you. A better dream. You won’t be losing anything. You’ll be gaining more. Oh how awesome and wonderful God is!

Trust me lovelies, that water you’re treading is shallow. That rope you’re hanging onto is close to the ground. Let go, stand up, live the life you were meant to live. Reach out to the Lord and you’ll realize He’s been closer than you thought the whole time.

More Than Birds

As I sat on the porch looking out over the field, I watched as different birds flew around . It seemed as if they didn’t have a care in the world. They dipped and swooped in flight. Some of them flit back and forth. I began to notice the different varieties of birds around my home. Of course there were my chickens, pecking away in their pen. The brightly colored Bluebirds are back. It looks as if their nest may have babies because the daddy bird was holding a worm in his beak as he paused to perch across from me on my porch. The Purple Martins were chasing one another, dipping low to the ground. I know they were scooping up bugs. As I looked up, I noticed a couple of ducks flying overhead. All around me there were birds. I even have a sweet little Mockingbird. What a little jester he is!

As I sat watching all the antics of the bird circus I thought, those birds don’t have a care in the world, yet God takes care of them. It was then that I heard that soft Voice whisper, “How much more do I love you?” I answered out loud, “I’m worth more than a bird!” I felt the resounding “YES” in my heart.

Oh dear lovelies, do you know that you are worth more than the birds to God? As I sat and watched more of the birds’ antics, listening to them singing, I wondered how many of us go through life never knowing how much we’re loved by the Creator of the Universe!

Look at the birds. They don't plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren't you far more valuable to him than they are? ~Matthew 6:26, NLT

We all have ups and downs in our lives. Sometimes the downs try to overtake us and quite often many of us find ourselves stuck in the downs and swallowed by the pit of despair, depression, loneliness, and many other things. Before long, we’re so stuck in the muck and mire of the pit, we can’t climb out because the sides are so slimy we slide back down. We may begin to think not even God cares about where we are and it’s our destiny to be stuck here. NOT TRUE!

He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. ~Psalm 40:2, NIV

Lovelies, if God sent Jesus to die for us, don’t you think you’re worth much more than those beautiful birds flying around the yard? Of course you are! Many people will try to tell you that your situation is your own fault, or that your circumstances are the result of genetics or that it’s hereditary. Baloney!

We are more than conquerors, dear ones. God’s Word is filled with promises just for us. All we have to do is accept them and walk in truth. We may hear many facts during our lives, but none of them can hold a candle to the Truth. Jesus is the truth and He is much greater than any fact.

The fact is that God loves the birds…but the truth is, He loves us even more.

Walking Healed

Do you know what it means to walk healed? Every day we go through life walking around declaring sickness, disease, ailments of one kind or another. But what is it like to walk healed? Is it even possible? I found that out. And not only have I been walking it, I've written a book about it!

For the last three years I have written about all that God has done in my life; how He healed me, how He's teaching me, things He's been revealing to me. For two years I wrote as the Holy Spirit gave me guidance. And on April eleventh, I sat down to do a book signing to launch my first book, Walking Healed.

Signing books...amazing feeling

The fun thing about writing this book is that I had no idea I had written it! I've said many times over that most of the time I walk through life clueless. I'm just enjoying the new life God gave me since healing me. My mind is clearer, my emotions are in check, my heart is happy, my spirit is giddy, what more could I want? Oh yeah, to write a book.

Walking Healed is two years of my life since being healed of over forty years of depression, intimidation, and mental and emotional abuse. Someone asked me how long it took me to write my book. I have to laugh because there really isn't a concise answer for that. It really took over forty years, nearly fifty.

You see, I lived it for forty-six years. Then God healed me and I began writing about it. I wrote about it for two years. Then I put it all together and began the editing and publishing process, which took another six months. This book not only has my life in it but almost literally my blood, sweat, and definitely my tears. I paid a very heavy price to get to where I am today.

I loved getting to talk with people
Walking Healed is designed to give hope to those who are struggling with depression, anxiety, intimidation, manipulation, abuse of any kind, and whatever else they may be going through. My life is one big story of overcoming. It's a life healed so that I could live. It's a story of forgiveness, grace, and hope.

In that, came my message of sorts; Finding Healing and Purpose Through Forgiveness, Grace, and Hope. Something that is so simple, yet again as I walk clueless had no idea that it was becoming my message. This is what God called me to do; to bring healing to people so that they could find their purpose. They would find it through forgiveness. Forgiveness would come through Grace. And when they found Grace, they would find Hope. It all works together.

Amazed at the turnout
Such a deep message isn't it? Yet it's so simple. However, I'm just now learning it with everyone who is reading the book. What could I possibly tell anyone who is suffering? What could I possibly teach them? These are the things I ponder as I'm watching people mill about, excited to celebrate with me. And I have a Moses moment in my author chair, at my author table; "Who am I that You would choose me, God?"

I immediately got a resounding answer:
"You are My daughter. You are who I've chosen to go out and help your sisters find the healing that you did. You can do it, with My help."

Well of course I need His help! I can't do any of this without Him. He is the reason I'm healed. He is the reason I'm here. He is the reason I write. And He is the reason I'll continue. Who am I? I am God's masterpiece, I am the head and not the tail, I am chosen, anointed, beautiful, more than a conqueror, I am who He says I am and I am HIS!

Oh but dear lovelies so are you! You are meant to be more. You are meant to rise above your circumstances. Look at what God did with me. Don't you know He wants to do the same with you? God wants to give you your heart's desire. Mine was to be a writer and write books. Look at where I am now. What's your desire?

I would love to encourage you through the words of my book, Walking Healed. You can find it online at Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Apple iTunes, Books A Million (BAM), and Kobo. You can also find it on the shelves at Handfuls on Purpose Christian Bookstore in Marion, Illinois.

Join me on the walk and find healing and purpose in your lives through forgiveness, grace, and hope.
